Our Story
Our co-founders, Mike and Edward came from two unique and different backgrounds. Mike’s grassroots were in Human Resources, Talent Acquisition and Advisory services, and Edward came from a STEM background, having studied computer and electrical engineering.
They both recognized gaps in their respective fields and realized there was an opportunity to join forces and create something that would reach beyond each of their areas of expertise.
Mike Corbett
Mike saw that traditional hiring had lost its personal touch, becoming rigid and impersonal. His vision was to shift the spotlight onto candidates, their character, and unique qualities, rather than just their qualifications. He aimed to make recruiting a more human-centred experience. He believed that the technology and software meant to simplify hiring had inadvertently complicated it. Additionally, the overemphasis on experienced candidates was leading to missed opportunities with incredibly talented and promising individuals.

While working as a software engineer in the FinTech industry, Edward observed an unfair gap in opportunities for tech professionals, often influenced by factors beyond their control. He recognized a recurring theme among highly skilled individuals proficient in coding but frequently dismissed due to their educational backgrounds, language challenges, or recent arrival in Canada. In an environment where talent shortages were growing, the valuable skills and potential contributions of qualified individuals were going to waste.
