There’s no question that artificial intelligence (AI) is dominating the tech media space. Since ChatGPT launched in late 2022, AI has been the trending tech topic and it doesn’t look like this will change any time soon.

With the rapidly evolving business landscape, it’s natural for companies to be turning to AI to get and stay ahead of the curve. From automating routine tasks to improving customer experiences, AI is becoming increasingly integral to business operations across industries. But how will artificial intelligence change the future of business?

To learn more about the potential impact of AI, we sat down with Jarvis’ techie-in-charge, Co-Founder and President, Edward Wang. He shared his perspective on the future of AI and how we can best prepare for the changes ahead.

Read on to learn more about the latest trends and innovations in AI and what they mean for the future of our business.

Q: What are your thoughts on the current trend of AI? Do you think it’s overhyped, or is there more to it?

Edward Wang: I believe that AI is definitely a game-changing technology that has the potential to revolutionize many industries. There’s no doubt that the current trend of AI is generating a lot of buzz, but there is a lot of substance to it – I believe that it’s a transformative technology that will play a significant role in shaping the future.

One of the reasons why AI is such a hot topic right now is that we are starting to see some incredible breakthroughs in the field. AI is now capable of performing tasks that were once thought to be the exclusive domain of humans, while being democratized more than ever – it is now becoming available to everyone and every company and organization is able to benefit. That being said, AI is still in its early stages, and there is a lot of work that needs to be done to unlock its full potential.

At Jarvis, we believe that AI has the potential to bring about real benefits and positive changes in many industries, but we also recognize that it’s not a magic bullet that can solve all problems. It’s important to approach AI with a clear understanding of its limitations and to focus on its practical applications. We should embrace its potential while remaining grounded in reality and focusing on practical applications that can bring real value to businesses and individuals alike.

Q: From your experience, what industries or areas do you think are most impacted by AI, and how are they using it?

Edward Wang: From my experience, AI is impacting a wide range of industries and areas, from healthcare and finance to retail and manufacturing. In finance, for example, AI is being used for fraud detection, risk assessment, and investment decision-making. In healthcare, AI is being used to analyze medical images and assist with diagnosis and treatment planning. Retailers are using AI to personalize the shopping experience and optimize inventory management. Manufacturers are using AI to improve production efficiency and quality control. The list goes on.

One of the most significant impacts of AI is its ability to automate routine tasks and free up human resources for more creative and complex work. This can lead to increased productivity, improved customer experiences, and reduced costs for businesses across many different industries.

Q: How do you see AI changing the landscape of tech consulting, and what implications does that have for our company and our clients?

Edward Wang: AI is already changing the landscape of tech consulting in significant ways, and it will continue to do so in the future. AI has the potential to automate repetitive tasks, analyze vast amounts of data, and generate insights that were previously impossible to uncover. This can lead to significant efficiency gains and cost savings for our clients.

At the same time, AI can also create new opportunities for innovation and differentiation. For example, we can develop new AI-powered products and services that leverage the latest advances in machine learning, natural language processing, and computer vision. These new offerings can help our clients stay ahead of the competition and drive growth.

However, with these opportunities come new challenges. As AI becomes more prevalent in tech consulting, it will require a new set of skills and capabilities from our team members. We will need to invest in training and development to ensure that our team is equipped to work with AI technologies and understand their implications.

Q: Some people worry that AI will replace jobs or make them obsolete. What do you think about this, and how can companies prepare for these potential changes?

Edward Wang: This question has really been in focus lately. Instead of focusing on whether AI replaces people at certain jobs, I prefer looking at the possibilities it brings for creating new ones. What do I mean by that? While AI and automation have the potential to automate certain tasks and replace some jobs, they can also create new job opportunities and increase efficiency in many industries.

Companies can prepare for these potential changes by investing in upskilling and reskilling programs for their employees to help them adapt to the changing work environment. This can include offering training programs in areas such as data analysis, programming, and other AI-related skills.

Additionally, companies can focus on developing new products and services that leverage AI and automation to enhance their offerings and create new job opportunities. For example, companies can create new roles such as AI trainers, data analysts, or machine learning engineers to help build and maintain AI systems.

In other words, while AI and automation may cause some disruption in the job market, companies that are proactive in preparing their employees and leveraging these technologies can create new opportunities for growth and innovation.

Q: What advice would you give to someone who wants to get started in or learn more about AI?

Edward Wang: The key to learning AI (and anything else, really) is to stay curious, keep practicing, and be persistent in your efforts. With dedication and effort, anyone can learn AI and contribute to this exciting field.

To those looking for concrete steps and advice for getting involved in AI or learning more about it, I would recommend:

  1. Start with the basics: Begin by learning the fundamental concepts and principles of AI, such as machine learning, neural networks, and deep learning. Online courses such as those offered by Udemy, Coursera, or Udacity can be a good starting point.
  2. Practice coding: Familiarize yourself with coding languages commonly used in AI, such as Python. You can start with simple coding exercises, and gradually move on to more complex projects.
  3. Join AI communities: Joining AI communities can help you connect with other AI enthusiasts and experts. These communities provide a wealth of resources, including tutorials, code samples, and discussion forums.
  4. Attend AI conferences and events: Attending AI conferences and events can provide opportunities to learn from experts and stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in the field.
  5. Build projects: Finally, try building AI projects on your own or with a team. This can help you gain practical experience and showcase your skills to potential employers.

Q: Looking into the future, what developments do you think we can expect to see in AI over the next few years, and how will they impact our company and our clients?

Edward Wang: Over the next few years, we can surely expect to see many exciting developments in AI that will have a significant impact on our company and our clients. Some key areas might include advancements in natural language processing; AI systems are getting better at understanding human language, which will enable more advanced applications in customer service, chatbots, and other conversational interfaces. At the same time, we might see an increase in use of AI in different industries, along with continued growth of automation. As AI becomes more advanced and capable, we can expect to see more automation in areas such as manufacturing, logistics, and transportation. This could lead to increased efficiency and cost savings.

Overall, I believe it will free humans from complicated, routine or mindless tasks, and make them more creative, all while building a future with possibilities that now seem unimaginable.

It’s clear that AI will impact the world and business as we know it today. Although we can’t entirely predict how AI will change the future, we do know that it will have some impact on most, if not all, industries. By viewing AI as a possibility generator, companies can stay curious and be adaptable to a rapidly evolving landscape.
